Want to check your Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) or your Provident Fund (PF) account balance? Now you can do so very easily without any hassles. To know your balance you just need to give a missed call, Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) said in a tweet. So now without spending any money you can now know your PF balance, sitting in the comforts of your home.
The free service of checking PF account balance by giving missed call can be availed by the salaried class people. This has come as a major relief for employees who can now remain aware of the PF account balance and whether their companies are contributing PF share or not.
The employee and the employer contribute an equal amount (12%) towards savings every month and this amount can be availed upon retirement or after switching jobs.
Previously employees needed to log in via Universal Account Number (UAN) to check their PF account balance. This can now be done in a very simple way.
Check PF Account Balance by Missed Call
First employees must ensure that their mobile number, which is registered with their PF account, is still active.
Your active mobile number must be linked with the UAN number in your EPF account.
If your UAN is integrated with your KYC details proceed to give a missed call to the prescribed toll-free number.
You just need to give a missed call from your registered mobile number to 011-22901406 which is a toll-free number.
Post the call, you will receive an SMS that will contain all your PF account details.
Check PF Account Balance by SMS
Apart from via missed call, employees can also check PF account balance through SMS.
EPFO has allowed lakhs of employees to check their PF account balance through SMS.
Employees need to send an SMS to 77382-99899 to check their PF account balance.
While sending SMS, employees need to write ‘EPFOHO UAN ENG’ while sending the message to 77382-99899.
Here the last three letters determine the language of preference which one can change according to need.
